BlueActionBANOS (BAB) supports the transition from pilot projects to large-scale applications within the Mission Ocean & Waters framework. The project provides practical, accessible support to a wide range of communities and organisations contributing to the restoration of seas, oceans and waters.

The focus is on tangible actions that strengthen the circular and carbon-neutral blue economy, including:

  • multi-use and nature-based solutions;
  • alternative offshore energy;
  • tackling pollution;
  • restoration of marine ecosystems.

In doing so, BlueActionBANOS builds on the achievements of the BlueMissionBANOS project and serves as an important bridge between research, innovation and real-world implementation.

BlueActionBANOS wide

Project flow

To accelerate the transition from research to practice, BlueActionBANOS provides several support mechanisms:

  • Direct funding for at least five concrete projects and twenty transition agendas
  • Technical guidance through mentoring, peer learning and knowledge exchange within the Mission Ocean network
  • Knowledge and collaboration platforms such as BlueBioMatch, which help cross-border partners scale up their solutions

In addition, the project supports the development of TRL 7–9 solutions, which are ready for large-scale implementation.
