Submit your project idea for strategic basic research
Blue Cluster offers companies and other organisations the opportunity to submit project ideas for basic research in the blue economy once a year. This year's call for projects will launch on 12 December 2024 and will run until 28 January 2026.
Any proposal that fits within our roadmaps and meets the conditions for cooperation is eligible for funding. The call is open to all our innovation domains, but only to c-SBR projects. Feasibility studies can be submitted on a continuous basis.
A budget of 4 million euros is available for this call. The maximum duration for submitted projects is two years.

We highly recommend you to have one of our innovation managers assess your project beforehand. This way, you are 100% certain that your proposal is admissible.
Submitting an application (cSBR)
Project proposals for cSBR projects must be submitted as a 2-pager to Blue Cluster by 28 January 2026. All applicants will then have to pitch their project proposal to the steering committee on 5 February 2026.
After approval by the steering committee, the 2-pager can be further developed into a 10-pager for submission to Blue Cluster on 19 March 2026. The full proposal must then be submitted to VLAIO before 22 May 2026.
