Register for the Blue Innovation Awards 2021
The blue economy is experiencing rapid growth and can contribute significantly to the realisation of the sustainable development goals of the United Nations. Many progressive companies and public services are working on these goals.
Blue Cluster wants to put a spotlight on some of these organisations and is therefore organising the second edition of the ‘Blue Innovation Awards’. These awards will be solemnly presented during G-STIC 2021 in Dubai on 25 October 2021.
The G-STIC programme in Dubai offers our business laureates a unique opportunity to be part of an international setting and network. Moreover, G-STIC takes place during the Flemish Week at the World’s Fair.
Who is eligible?
You are a Belgian-based company or public service with ambitions in the blue economy.
You present a project, product or service with an innovative and inspiring character that is close to the market or close to implementation.
Your project, product or service preferably has multiple of the following characteristics:
Relevant innovative solution to a sustainability issue;
Link with economic activities in, on and around the sea;
Market potential at home and/or abroad;
International ambitions and/or realisations;
Impact on economic, social and ecological aspects within the framework of sustainable development (more info: UN Sustainable Development Goals).
Recently completed projects, as well as recently developed products and services may also be submitted.

What is the procedure?
15 June (9-10 am): online info moment about your candidacy for the award as well as practical information about G-STIC 2021;
25 June: deadline to submit your project, product or service via the entry form;
8 or 9 July: online presentation of your project, product or service to the jury, with representatives from Blue Cluster, Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Maritime Campus Antwerp and Bluebridge-Ostend Science Park;
16 July: official announcement of the 8 laureates for the 5 Blue Innovation Awards 2021;
25 October: the 8 laureates face off and the 5 winners will be announced during G-STIC 2021 in Dubai.
Why should you participate?
Entering your product, project or service only takes ten minutes;
All participants will receive feedback from the jury on their entry for the awards;
All laureates can count on local and international exposure, via G-STIC and media coverage
All laureates will receive half a day of professional guidance to prepare;
All laureates can count on an allowance to cover travel expenses;
Winners will receive an award, can use the award logo in their communication and are in the spotlight for a year through various channels.
