Wind turbines in Belgium provide green energy for an average of 25 years. Despite our pioneering role in the installation, use and maintenance of wind farms, we lack the experience to dismantle wind turbines sustainably and professionally. The Ready4Decom project aims to change that.

To what extent can existing infrastructure at sea be (re)used to generate or store energy and optimise the use of maritime space? The partners in the MP Multi-Use project set out to find the answer to this challenging question.

Belgium was one of the first countries to make a deliberate choice for offshore wind energy. The first installations are gradually approaching the end of their lifetime. The OWiDEx project wants to position Belgium as a pioneer in the decommissioning of offshore wind turbines.

Offshore wind turbines have a limited lifespan. The oldest wind turbines in the Belgian part of the North Sea are approaching the end of their useful life. The CTO project investigates how we can adopt a sustainable approach and prepare the industry for this.
