ENCORE (ENergizing Coastal Regions with Offshore Renewable Energy)
European waters are an untapped source of renewable energy that could provide 25% of our energy needs by 2050. The area of the 2 Seas region is uniquely positioned for offshore renewable energy production. This energy can supply many households and a large part of the industry present.
This brings a lot of opportunities for companies. Unfortunately, standardized protocols for the development of new prototypes are lacking. This hinders capital investment in companies, bankable projects and scaling up of the sector as a whole. The partners in the ENCORE project are trying to do something about this.
Doelstellingen
The ENCORE project (ENergizing Coastal Regions with Offshore Renewable Energy) aims to increase innovation in the offshore renewable energy sector and has two specific objectives:
1. Further develop five ORE technologies with experts in a structured and collaborative process and address common challenges through task forces;
2. Develop a route-to-market strategy for ORE solutions to accelerate commercialization for islands, harbours, estuaries and offshore structures.
