The power of blue innovation in Flanders: an update
The brochure ‘Gearing up our blue knowledge - Tackling ocean challenges in the UN Decade of Ocean Science’ is a collaboration between the VLIZ, Blue Cluster and the Flemish government's Department of Work, Economy, Science, Innovation and Social Economy (WEWIS).
Originally launched in 2021 to mark the start of the UN Decade of Ocean Sciences, the brochure provides a clear overview of how Flanders is contributing to sustainable solutions to the challenges in our oceans and seas through knowledge and innovation.
This publication has now been updated on the occasion of the UN Ocean Conference in Nice (9-13 June). The latest edition contains not only updated information and figures, but also new projects and initiatives launched in Flanders.
What's new?
This edition sheds light on a wide range of new topics, including:
- The importance of maritime security;
- Decommissioning of offshore wind turbines;
- Multiple use of space at sea and mariparks;
- Smart data and the Digital Twin of the Ocean.
Enjoy the read!
