Looking back on 2023 and looking forward to 2024

The Christmas period has ended and the new year is already in full swing. Consequently, it is high time to reflect on the achievements of the past year, and to provide some more information about what we have in store for you in 2024.

In order to achieve an accelerated development of an innovative and sustainable blue economy in Flanders, we have completed many projects with you over the past year with great results, launched several new projects, and set up well-attended events.

In order to export and scale up this front-running knowledge and experiences, we have also focused heavily on internationalisation, with visits by international delegations on the one hand and various missions abroad on the other.

We would like to continue on the same path in 2024, so that we can put your company or organisation on the national and international map more clearly. Below you can find some of our plans for 2024:

1. Blue Innovation Awards

In January we will once again set out in search of sustainable innovative projects, services and products in the blue economy. Do you want to put your innovation in the spotlight and present it to a broad and enthusiastic audience? Keep an eye on our channels and register in time. The winners will be announced in June.
 

2. Blue Sessions

How can you, as a company, substantiate your impact on the ecosystem services that the sea provides us? Learn more about the results of our projects in the Blue Session on Ecosystem Approach on February 1.

Can floating solar parks at sea become a new market for you? Find out where we are today and join the discussion about ideas for innovations at the Blue Session on Offshore Solar on February 8.

What is the blue bioeconomy and what possibilities and opportunities does this innovative sector have to offer for your company? Be inspired and participate in the Blue Bioeconomy Session on February 29.
 

3. IPF 2024 in New Orleans

From April 21 to 26 you can participate in a group business trip on offshore wind to the US, which includes participation in IPF 2024 in New Orleans. During this trip you will get a clear picture of the market opportunities in the US for your company.

4. Blue Economy Science Summit 

In 2024, Digital Sea is the central theme of the Blue Economy Science Summit (BESS) on May 23. This is the place to be for inspiration about digital innovations in the blue economy. Maritime security is already prominently on the agenda. 

5. Blue Innovation Village at Ostend at Anchor

From 23 to 26 May, more than 200,000 people will travel to Ostend to become better acquainted with the marine and maritime sector. In the Blue Innovation Village they are introduced to the latest innovations in the blue economy. The ideal opportunity to introduce the general public to your company!
