Look back on SME café at EDR Antwerp Shipyard
On Friday 23 September 2022, several members of Blue Cluster came together on the EDR Antwerp Shipyard site in the port of Antwerp to get to know each other better in an informal setting. Below, we give a brief outline of this very interesting day.
Presentation
After welcoming the attendants, chairman of the SME committee Gert De Sitter briefly explained the concept of the SME café, and the attendants introduced themselves.
Subsequently Philippe Trouillard, Commercial Officer at EDR Antwerp Shipyard, gave a presentation to provide an insight into the operation, achievements and ambitions of the company.
Worksites
Then we put on our safety clothing and hard hat for a fascinating tour of the entire site. We first paid a visit to the company’s worksites.
We were given a detailed explanation of the turbo workshop and other worksites, where we could see the largest plasma cutters in Belgium in operation.
Docks
Antwerp EDR Shipyard has both dry and wet docks at its disposal. We visited dock 6, a dry dock where a container ship was being repaired at the time.
We descended to the bottom of the dock and were able to admire the vessel in its full glory. Truly a unique experience!
Conclusion
After the company visit, we went to Gaarkeuken 110 to conclude this successful event in style with a delicious meal. Of course, this was the perfect networking opportunity for the attendants.
We would like to thank EDR Antwerp Shipyard for hosting this event, and we look forward to the next edition!
