Every year, the research group Aqua-ERF of Odisee University of Applied Sciences organises a number of courses on the topic of aquaculture. For the academic year 2021-2022, two courses have been planned: AQUACULTURE basic and AQUACULTURE specialisation.

Basic course

The basic course starts on 30 September 2021 with an introduction to aquaculture in Flanders and the world, given by professor emeritus Patrick Sorgeloos. Furthermore, a variety of topics will be covered, such as fish biology, fish nutrition, recirculation technology, farming of crustaceans, shellfish and algae, as well as aquaponics.

Specialisation course

The specialisation course on aquaculture will be given in the second semester of this academic year. The exact date is yet to be announced.  This course is mainly aimed at aquaculture in practice, the operation of aquaculture companies and technical aspects of recirculation systems.

Practical information

Both courses consist of 10 3-hour lessons and are open to all interested parties. In other words, you do not need to be an Odisee student to participate. 

No prior knowledge is required for Aquaculture Basic Prior knowledge is not required for Aquaculture Specialisation, but it is recommended.
