As part of the MISSIM project, Antwerp Maritime Academy is investing heavily in new simulators that simulate the various functional parts of ships as realistically as possible. The already existing infrastructure will be expanded with two bridge simulators, an engine room simulator and a room where the use of electronic maps and communication between ships and shore can be practised.

The new simulator park thus prepares seafarers for situations they will hopefully never encounter in real life, but for which they must be ready. All this equipment will also be interconnected, resulting in a unique setup for Western Europe.

This project has a total cost of € 7,990,240.00. Half of this cost will be borne by the European Commission through REACT EU / ERDF. Antwerp Maritime Academy will cover the remaining amount.
