The partners in ICONIC strive to develop innovative digital and physical instruments to fundamentally improve the integrated control of wind farms. This involves looking at the entire physical system and the complex aerodynamic interactions between turbines.

Offshore wind farms provide us with large amounts of clean renewable energy, but also have a certain effect on the environment. The ANEMOI project studies possible chemical emissions from these wind farms (OWFs) and their impact on ecosystems and aquaculture.

The demand for sustainable marine food production is growing, while the available space at sea is increasingly under pressure. Within this context, the ULTFARMS project explores whether sustainable aquaculture is possible and feasible within offshore wind farms.

To what extent can existing infrastructure at sea be (re)used to generate or store energy and optimise the use of maritime space? The partners in the MP Multi-Use project set out to find the answer to this challenging question.

Belgium was one of the first countries to make a deliberate choice for offshore wind energy. The first installations are gradually approaching the end of their lifetime. The OWiDEx project wants to position Belgium as a pioneer in the decommissioning of offshore wind turbines.

Offshore wind turbines are constructed around the globe. The foundations of such wind turbines are quickly colonised by filter-feeding animals. The OUTFLOW project investigates the functional impact of a high concentration of these animals on the marine ecosystem.
