Breadcrumb Home Projects Here you can find all the information you need about the projects of the Blue Cluster. Blue tourism Coastal protection & the use of mineral resources Ecosystem approach (-) Maritime connection Ocean pollution & waste solutions Renewable energy & freshwater production Smart sea Sustainable marine food & marine biotechnology Facet Projects domain In progress Past Facet Projects status DBC as an observer DBC as a partner DBC project Intercluster project International project (-) National project Facet Projects type EVERBLUE The EVERBLUE project aims to investigate in detail the effects of wind on modern container ships moored in realistic, busy port environments. To this end, wind tunnel tests, CFD simulations and dynamic mooring analyses will be used. In progress CHyPS The shipping industry is highly diverse and encompasses the carriage of goods by sea, along the coast and by inland waterways. A great deal of research is conducted into energy carriers and powertrains to make vessels more environmentally friendly. In this context, the CHyPS project has recently been launched. SMARAGD An offshore wind farm entails many maintenance costs. The partners within the SMARAGD project are developing an autonomous vessel to transport goods to and from the wind turbines. The aim is to reduce unnecessary costs. Past H2Tugboats This feasibility study forms the basis of the implementation of hydrogen as a clean fuel in marine shipping in Flanders, responding to two complex challenges: reducing shipping emissions and adapting port infrastructure to this reduction. Past SSN (Shore Supported Navigation) The aim of this pilot project is the remote control of an estuary vessel between the ports of Antwerp and Zeebrugge. This is done with a reduced crew on board and a captain in a control centre on land. Past
