The blue economy and the offshore wind sector are constantly changing and evolving. The number of available training courses that respond to this is relatively limited. This does not make it any easier for companies to find employees with the right skills and qualifications.

To do something about this, the West Flanders Development Agency (POM West-Flanders) decided to invest in a new training center that resolutely focuses on virtual reality and other immersive technologies. Lifelike simulations make it possible to learn new skills in a realistic environment.

Target audience

Ghent University, VIVES University College, Howest and Syntra West will operate the training lab. This unique collaboration guarantees that the training center will be used for a wide audience and a wide range of training courses.

Companies and other knowledge institutions can also rent the lab to provide training to their staff or customers. Are you interested in using this unique infrastructure? Please contact Ruth Teerlynck (Syntra West).

UPSKILL

The establishment of this new training center is part of the European UPSKILL project. Through this project, POM West Flanders and VDAB are jointly investing 8 million euros in high-tech training material at various locations in the province of West Flanders.
