Give your opinion on biobased ropes

The ropes that are currently used in the offshore aquaculture sector are made from 100% non-recyclable plastic. This has a major impact on the marine environment. The BIOGEARS project aims to address this issue.

BIOGEARS aims to develop biobased ropes to create a sustainable offshore aquaculture sector. In addition, it also aims to combine the production of seaweed and mussels to increase the number of marketable aquaculture products. The project is financially supported by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund.

Input

The project partners are currently looking for consumers and stakeholders in the aquaculture sector who want to participate in an open survey about the potential application of biobased materials in the sector.

The results of both surveys will be used to explore the feasibility of sustainable alternatives and support the further development of biobased ropes.
