European support for Flemish climate and energy projects
The European Union recognises the importance of acting now to ensure a sustainable and prosperous society. At the UN climate conference COP26 in Glasgow, the EU therefore pledged to pursue even higher climate ambitions.
To mitigate the impact of climate change, the EU has created several funding programmes. The aim is to encourage entrepreneurs to step up their efforts on sustainability, climate and energy-efficiency. You can find an overview of some relevant initiatives below:
EU innovation fund
Until 3 March 2022, you can submit a proposal for a large-scale project (capital expenditure higher than €7.5 million) to the EU innovation fund. The available budget for this call is €1.5 billion. More information can be found on the website of the innovation fund.
LIFE
Within the ‘Clean Energy Transition’ sub-programme, there is currently a call that expires on 12 December 2022. On the LIFE website, you will find a series of informative videos and other support material (such as a tool to identify potential partners).
Horizon Europe
Several calls with different deadlines are currently ongoing within the ‘Climate, Energy and Mobility’ cluster. Some of the topics addressed are the operation of offshore wind farms, the development of new fuels and new carriers for renewable energy.
Connecting Europe Facility
This funding instrument focuses on the development of infrastructure within the domains of Transport, Energy and Digital. The focus includes smart transport applications, facilities for alternative fuels and maritime ports. The deadline is 19 January 2022.
European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund
Furthermore, there are also two interesting calls for innovative multi-use projects and marine spatial planning through the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund. Both calls expire on 12 January 2022.
Single Market Programme
Within the Single Market Programme, a call is currently ongoing for local green deals helping small and medium-sized enterprises to become more resilient. Proposals for this call can be submitted until 24 November 2021.
This is a limited selection of currently ongoing relevant European calls. For a complete overview, please refer to the website of the Flemish Energy and Climate Agency. They will gladly help you in your search for European funding. Single Market Programme
