The Flemish blue economy is a stronghold in terms of innovation and maritime research. However, most Flemish people are not aware of this. That is why De Tijd is launching a number of articles in May on innovative initiatives and projects in the Belgian part of the North Sea.

All contributions will be bundled in the dossier 'The North Sea as a new colony'. The first articles were published on Saturday 8 May. 'The new seawall is a dune' focuses on the possibilities of protecting the coast together with nature. 'The loudest part of the sea lies off our coast' addresses the issue of underwater noise.

Over the course of the month, other topics, such as wind energy and automated vessels, will also be discussed. Would you like to find out what is happening and in the pipeline at sea? Then read the upcoming articles in the De Tijd newspaper or take a look on our website.

Blue Cluster brings together companies and other organisations to set up innovative activities within the blue economy. We are therefore happy to contribute to the development of these articles. Should you have any questions after reading the articles, please contact us.
