Cleantech Flanders releases new report

Cleantech refers to all processes, products or services reducing negative effects on the environment through significant energy savings, sustainable use of resources and measures to protect the environment. This is therefore very much in line with the pursuit of sustainability within the blue economy.

Cleantech Flanders is a network organisation accelerating the implementation of cleantech at Flemish companies by means of co-creation, cooperation, matchmaking, events and knowledge sharing. Every year, a report about the current state of affairs within the sector is released. This year’s report has recently become available.

Some important conclusions

  • Cleantech is on the rise: in addition to a remarkable increase in the number of cleantech companies and the number of employees in the sector, a significant increase in investments was also noted;
  • Despite the Covid-19 crisis, cleantech companies in Flanders recorded an average year-on-year EBITDA growth of 26.61% over the past two years;
  • Flemish cleantech actors are increasingly found not only in economic hubs, but spread all over Flanders;
  • Companies in the sector are not limited to the regional or national market, but are increasingly active internationally.

Cleantech and the blue economy

Blue Cluster firmly believes that long-term sustainability is essential to develop healthy economic activities by, on and in the sea. We are therefore sincere advocates of cleantech and try to help shape it through our projects.

You can read exactly how we do this and how we can support companies in Flanders in this regard in a contribution to the report by our CEO Marc Nuytemans. Do you still have questions or would you like to know more about our activities? Get in touch with us.
