Aerospace applications have already proven their added value in the maritime sector. That is logical in view of the location and vastness of the areas where maritime activities take place.

Yet both sectors still do not know each other very well. That is why Blue Cluster and Flanders Space organise their first joint workshop at RedWire in Kruibeke on 7 February 2023.

Programme

During the workshop, you will get the chance to describe the technological challenges your organisation is faced with. Interdisciplinary working groups will be created on the basis of this input.

In addition, the possibilities for financial support will be discussed in more detail, and you can take part in specific matchmaking sessions.

Context

Well-known aerospace applications in the maritime sector are satellite-supported AIS, Search and Rescue communication as well as Track & Trace communication in the logistic sector. Examples include the monitoring of embankments, detection of sandbank erosion, silting and collapse of quay walls. Other current examples are guidance of dredging works and the planning of wind farms.

Thanks to its seaports, its cities and its extensive logistical network, Flanders is ideally positioned for the development of new applications of aerospace technology. It is therefore interesting for companies active in the blue economy to explore the Flemish aerospace sector and enter into partnerships with players from this sector.
